The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern could not be more excited at the moment with a deal to bring Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette looking all but done, however, things aren’t as rosy when it comes to other deals.
The Mirror are reporting that, while the deal for Lacazette is sealed, the Gunners’ move for Monaco star Thomas Lemar is in jeopardy with the French champions ramping up their asking price in order to deter Arsene Wenger this summer.
The tabloid claim that the Champions League semi-finalists, who lifted their first league title in 17 years last season, are now asking for a staggering £80m for the winger, which would shatter Arsenal’s transfer record with or without the deal for Lacazette.
Our landlord has calmed the nerves of some fans insisting that Lemar has been mooted as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez if he leaves meaning, as things stand, there is no desperate need to bring him in.
The Arsenal players returned to London Colney to begin their pre-season training this week, however, Sanchez is not yet back at the club after his involvement at the Confederations Cup.
