Wenger delivers update on reported Arsenal transfer pursuit and it’s bad news for the Gunners

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer are hoping for at least one more signing this summer…

It has been a tough start to the season for the Gunners, and new recruits are undoubtedly still needed. From front to back, Wenger has work to do.

Unfortunately, though, one player that doesn’t look set to join the club is Thomas Lemar, with Arsene Wenger – according to James Olley of the Evening Standard – describing a move for the midfielder as ‘dead’.

Lemar has, of course, been linked with a move to Arsenal all summer for long, with reports late last month suggesting that a deal could still be found.

A move at this time, though, now looks very unlikely indeed, with Monaco hesitant to sell their prized asset. Having already lost the likes of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy to Chelsea and Man City respectively, it’s no real surprise that the club don’t want to lose another player.

Still, it’s a blow for Arsenal, and they need to bounce back from it before the summer ends.

Landlord’s Verdict

Lemar is one of Europe’s best, but a move to Arsenal looks near impossible at this point.

That doesn’t mean Arsenal should give up, though, as they still need to sign a player that plays in his position. They’re lacking depth up top, with a shortage of consistent attacking midfielders¬†made worse by uncertainty surrounding the future of Alexis Sanchez.

Wenger is running out of time to get any other players in.
