The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have seen a number of names linked with a move to north London in the last week or so, but are desperate to see something tangible go through.
There’s some good news for the punters though, as reports from The Telegraph claim that the Gunners are ready to return to Lyon with a club-record bid to land striker Alexandre Lacazette.
The report claims that the FA Cup winners, who failed to land the French international last summer, have given manager Arsene Wenger the green-light to offer the £50m plus add-ons the Ligue 1 outfit are valuing their man at.
The 26-year-old, who was set to move to Atletico Madrid until their transfer ban was unexpectedly upheld, enjoyed an outstanding season last term, bagging 37 goals in all competitions.
Should Wenger manage to convince Lacazette to make the move, considering there won’t be Champions League football on the table for at least a season, the mooted fee would smash the club’s record set when Mesut Ozil joined for £42.5m from Real Madrid.
Arsenal fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Wenger will be able to convince Lacazette to make the move? How big a role will the Champions League play in his choice? Let us know below…
