Wenger handed huge boost in battle over £55.25m man

The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are getting set for a packed summer of business, with a number of top names being linked with a move to The Emirates. However, there is one priority above all new additions.

Star man Alexis Sanchez is yet to make a commitment, either at Arsenal or elsewhere, with just under a year left on his current deal.

The Chilean international had been heavily linked with a move to German giants and Bayern Munich, as if they hadn’t caused the Gunners enough problems in recent years.

However, Wenger has been handed a boost in his battle to keep hold of the £55.25m-rated star. According to reports from German newspaper Bild (via The Mirror), the Bundesliga champions are set to end their interest in the 28-year-old after the forward demanded wages of £22m-a-year.

While Bayern ending their interest in Sanchez is, of course, good news for our punters the landlord has been quick to point out that it is unlikely the Gunners will be meeting similar wage demands and would still look to cash in as opposed to losing him on a free in a year’s time.

Arsenal fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Sanchez will put pen to paper on a new deal? Let us know below…
