Wenger needs this 34-cap international to be at the Emirates next season – agreed?

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern still have very high hopes for Jack Wilshere. The Englishman, who has 34 caps for his country, was one of Europe’s brightest talents as a teenager, and he was widely expected to develop into one of Arsenal’s best players. Showing class, composure and poise despite his then youth, Wilshere had everything.

However, it hasn’t quite panned out like that. He’s struggled for fitness and resultantly hasn’t developed as most would have hoped, and now his Arsenal career is hanging on a knife-edge. His contract expires in the summer, and as Wilshere recently confirmed via the Evening Standard, talks over a new deal are yet to commence.

This is very dangerous territory for Arsenal, as they risk losing him if he decides to talk to overseas clubs in January. Our landlord is of the opinion that it would be a huge mistake for the Gunners to let him go.

After all, Wilshere has proven in his limited minutes this term that he has bags of quality that is still left untapped. His technique is still there, and he is quickly improving his pace and quality on the ball, and he has enjoyed a prolonged spell of relative fitness over the last few months. Having played regularly in Europe, Wilshere is looking very good indeed.

Simply put, Arsenal would be foolish to let him go, as he could really help them next season. Do you agree? Vote below and let us know!
