The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see some change at the Emirates this summer…
This season has been a very disappointing one for the Gunners, with a top four finish looking increasingly unlikely after failing to beat Manchester City over the weekend.
Clearly, if Arsenal want to regain their Premier League crown, Arsene Wenger – or whoever is in charge – needs to sign a few big names, and it would appear as though the Gunners are keen to plug a long-term hole in their side.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal are planning a move for Everton ace Idrissa Gueye this summer, with the ex-Aston Villa man proving absolutely vital for the Toffees this season. Any deal won’t be easy, though, with the Mirror also noting that a number of foreign sides – including Valencia and RB Leipzig are also keen.
Indeed, he has arguably been the success story of the season – with Ronald Koeman really bringing the best out of the midfield enforcer.
Arsenal are a stellar side, but they have often lacked an edge in midfield. Granit Xhaka was expected to fill that hole this season, but he has largely failed to impress – and it appears as though Gueye could take up that mantle.
Certainly, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are happy with this news. Gueye, for them, is exactly the sort of player that they need. The Gunners have really struggled to keep hold of the ball at the back and are often split open with crafty passes. The addition of Gueye would, in theory, prevent this. A few are even claiming that the midfielder is the final piece of the Wenger puzzle, with some looking towards the success of N’Golo Kante at Chelsea as proof.
