Wenger reveals that French international wants to fight for his place at Arsenal next season

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned about the future of Olivier Giroud…

The Frenchman was in and out of the Arsenal first team last season, and with the recent arrival of Alexandre Lacazette, there have been fears amongst the Arsenal fans in the pub that he could look to leave the club this summer.

However, according to Arsene Wenger, that is not the case. As reported by the Evening Standard, Wenger has revealed that Giroud wants to stay at the club, stating: “Giroud fancies the competition…He fights hard, you know. I like the way he responds to what’s happening. He is focused and determined”.

This is good news for the Gunners as whilst Giroud may not be a regular in the starting eleven next season, his influence cannot be understated. He bagged a remarkable 12 league goals last season despite starting just 11 games, and he looked hugely influential for the Gunners.

Next season, with Lacazette in the side, his game time may well reduce, but his goals will remain just as important. With Arsenal needing a reply after a poor season last year, Giroud will need to be on the ball throughout the season as his side looks to impress.

With his future seemingly sorted, our landlord thinks that Arsenal now need to focus on making their attack even stronger.
