The rumours keep on coming here at The Transfer Tavern when John Richardson from the Sunday Express fills us in on the latest Premiership club eyeing Real Madrid’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The Dutch striker has made an outcast at the Bernabeu after Los Blancos coach Manuel Pellegrini publicly stated, “Huntelaar have no place in this team” and it appears that Arsenal are set to join North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the chase for his signature.
According to the paper, Gunners manager Arséne Wenger believes that Huntelaar is the ideal replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor, who secured a £25 million move to Manchester City last week.
Also in line for a move to the Emirates stadium is Wigan Athletic’s Lee Catermole despite reported interest from Sunderland. Steve Bruce coached the tough-tackling midfielder during his time at the JJB Stadium and is expected to make a move for the 21-year-old after it was revealed that Cattermole does not feature in the plans of new Latics boss Roberto Martinez.
So what sort of liquid refreshment fuelled this one? Are Huntelaar and Cattermole really headed to the red side of North London? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
