Wenger set for shock two year extension at Arsenal

wenger.jpgFootball Transfer Tavern’s favourite Frenchman Arsene Wenger will sign a new two year contract extension at Arsenal in the summer according to The Sun.

Wenger has been under intense scrutiny over the past few weeks and the Gunners fans turned on the long serving boss after their humiliating 1-0 defeat at home to Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The North London club are now eight seasons without a trophy and their only hope of silverware this season is the Champions League with a formidable Bayern Munich side to beat on Tuesday night in the first leg of their last 16 tie.

Many expect the German runaway league leaders to comfortably defeat Arsenal who are struggling to qualify for next seasons Champions League with Chelsea and Tottenham taking up the available places in the top four behind second placed Manchester City and top-of-the-tree United.

The Arsenal hierarchy however hope to keep Wenger in his role for at least another four years as his sometimes shrewd work in the transfer market as well as development of youngsters could massively help the club as the new financial fair play rules come into play.

Whether the Gunners fans will put up with another two seasons of no trophies and possibly no Champions League football is another question though.

Where do you stand on the Wenger debate? Has he had his time or is he still the man for the job? Let us know your thoughts below.
