The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are reverting to their usual pre-season optimism after club record signing Alexandre Lacazette scored as Arsene Wegner’s side won their first warm up game 2-0 in Sydney.
While everything seems rosy in north London after the arrival of the French striker, and with a number of other top names being linked with a move to The Emirates, there are some issues that need dealing with.
The most important of those, surely, is Barcelona’s sordid pursuit of their former youngster and Gunners full-back Hector Bellerin, after the Catalan giants were accused of tapping up the La Masia graduate.
With that in mind, Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that the FA Cup winners have written to the Spanish side warning them off a deal for the £25.5m-rated 22-year-old and telling them to end their attempts to upset the full-back.
Despite having lost his place to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the latter stages of last season, our landlord cannot stop reminding everyone in the bar just how good and how far Bellerin has come since joining Arsenal in 2011, thus just how big of a loss he would be.
