The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have had high hopes for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and it appears as though Arsene Wenger does too…
As reported in the Independent, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has challenged Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to go one step further and reach his potential.
He said: “He needs to be involved in the game…He is a player who likes to take the ball and go at people sometimes. I think that this will get out of his game. He can lose balls”.
Continuing, Wenger said: “He is one of the guys who sometimes is too harsh with his own performance. You can see he is blaming himself on the pitch sometimes when he misses something”.
Wenger clearly thinks that Chamberlain is a talented player, but it seems as though there are a few parts of his game that need improvement.
Indeed, the Englishman has really improved in recent years, having stagnated for a while, and he looks likely to make much more of an impact next season.
Our landlord thinks that he is still young enough to reach his potential, and he thinks that Wenger is the perfect manager to bring the best out of him.
