As Arsene Wenger continues to prowl the market looking to add fire power to his strike force, he is believed to have stepped up his approach for West Brom’s hit man Peter Odemwingie, according to the Daily Mail.
The Nigerian International had an impressive first season in England smashing the back of the net on 15 occasions displaying his best form for the past decade.
The pacey front man proved to play a vital role at the hawthorns during the last campaign, but it has been made clear their prized asset is not for sale.
West Brom technical director Dan Ashworth told the Birmingham Mail
“Our aim is to retain our core players and try to strengthen our squad around them. I want to make it clear that Peter Odemwingie is not for sale and remains a key member of our squad.”
He also admitted discussions over the player’s future in the West midlands are still on-going. Odemwingie’s current contract is set to expire next summer, and at the age of 29 you have to believe if an offer from a big club comes in then he is almost certain to vacate his current employers.
Is he the right man to come in at the Emirates, and would his presence change a great deal at the club? Personally I think not…
