The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are not having a very good time at the moment…
Adrift in the Premier League title race, down and out in the Champions League – things are not going well at the Emirates.
Unfortunately for the Gunners in the Transfer Tavern, though, it doesn’t look as though things are going to get any better any time soon.
Arsene Wenger has now received more bad news, and this time it comes on the injury front. Firstly, Santi Cazorla looks set to miss the rest of the season – with the Spaniard now focusing on a return next season, despite there originally being hopes in the Transfer Tavern that he would return this year.
What’s more, midfielder Mohammed Elneny’s fitness is also scaring Wenger – with the Evening Standard reporting that he is set for a scan on an injury – with there being fears that he could be set for a spell on the sidelines.
The Santi Cazorla injury is one of real disappointment for the Gunners in the Tavern, with many thinking that he could be the man to turn their season around. Though a natural number 10, Cazorla had excelled as a deep lying playmaker before his injury – with Arsenal struggling for depth in the midfield at present, he was considered the perfect solution.
Elneny’s injury status still remains uncertain, though the fact that he is set for a scan would seem to indicate that there are fears that he could be set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines.
The only shining light for the Gunners is that they are now without a game until the weekend after next, with an away clash against Liverpool coming up on the 4th of March. In a game that many in the Transfer Tavern are touting as a must-win, Wenger must find a way to manoeuvre his side.
