Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have pity for Manchester City’s gaffer after his farewell didn’t go as planned last weekend.
As reported in The Sun, Manuel Pellegrini was left disappointed following his final game at the Etihad as Manchester City boss after fans left the stadium and didn’t stay to hear Pellegrini’s farewell message.
The Chilean manager was expected to say his final few words to City faithful following their 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday following the players’ lap of honour.
But sadly for Pellegrini the majority of the 54,425 fans in attendance deserted him as they didn’t wave goodbye to their title winning manager.
Pellegrini himself said: “Well of course I wanted another goodbye – winning the game, playing attractive, attacking football that we did for most of the three years I’ve been here.
“It’s not the same today without winning. But for me, it has been three very wonderful, unforgettable years.”
It was an important match against the Gunners, because after their draw, Manchester United could take their place in the top four with a win against West Ham on Tuesday.
