West Brom close to appointing 56-year-old as their new manager

The West Bromwich Albion fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing who they would like as their new manager.

A few names have been banded about, such as Sam Allardyce, Ronald Koeman and Slaven Bilic.

But, according to an exclusive report by The Sun, West Bromwich Albion are close to unveiling Alan Pardew as their next manager.

Pardew has not had a job since last season when he was sacked as Crystal Palace boss.

The former West Ham United and Newcastle United manager has plenty of pedigree in the top flight and has led both West Ham and Crystal Palace to FA Cup finals.

Pardew is believed to have have two rounds of advanced talks with the Baggies and could be instated as their new manager as soon as Monday.

This would give him plenty of time to run the rule over his current squad before deciding whether any business needs to be done in January.

West Brom have been looking for a new manager since recently sacking Tony Pulis.

The Welshman suffered a string of poor results, leaving West Brom embroiled in a potential relegation battle.

Pardew will be tasked with lifting the West Midlands outfit away from the drop zone.
