West Brom complete contract renewal of key defender

DawsonOur resident West Brom fans haven’t had much to shout about this season, but they will be happy to hear that Craig Dawson has signed a new deal that will keep him at the Hawthorns until 2018.

The defender signed for Albion from Rochdale back in 2010 and was immediately loaned back for the remainder of the 2010-11 campaign.

Even as recently as last season, the 25-year old was being linked with a move to several other English outfits, with the likes of Burnley interested.

However, Dawson has since become a regular under boss Tony Pulis, making the right-back position on the team sheet his own.

He has impressed our punters over by the fruit machines this season, having made 31 appearances in all competitions this term.

His previous contract was set to expire at the end of next season, but he has now decided to extend his deal for an additional 12 months with improved terms.

“I was really pleased to be able to extend my contract here, and that will take it until the summer of 2018. I’m really enjoying my football, especially over the last year and a half when I’ve been a regular in the first team.”

“I feel like I’ve developed as a player over that period and I just want to continue on with that. I’ve been down here a few years now, the family is settled in this area, so it was a very easy decision to extend my contract.”

“It means I can just concentrate on playing and doing everything I can to stay in the team and carry on contributing to things.”

West Brom fans, are you happy to see Dawson extend his stay? Let us know in the comments below!
