West Brom confirm capture of £15m international, could feature against Stoke

West Brom fans in the Transfer Tavern have been delighted with their performances at the start of the season and the most optimistic of them are dreaming of European football next term.

That certainly seems a step too far at the current moment in time but the Baggies have significantly bolstered their squad, confirming the capture of Oliver Burke from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in a £15m deal.

The Scottish international, formerly of Nottingham Forest, returns to English football one-year after leaving the Championship for Bundesliga new boys Leipzig, who finished second in the table, but struggled to earn regular opportunities during his time at the continent.

He returns to the English game seeking regular opportunities with Tony Pulis’ side and has spoken about his desire ahead of his season with West Brom, as he said:

“I feel like it is a time for me to move on and play more games. I’m here, I want to impress and I want my name to be first on the team sheet.”

Landlord’s Verdict

One of few Brits to try his luck abroad, Burke arrives back in England with plenty of determination and plenty to prove. He was criticised last season following his departure from Nottingham Forest to join Red Bull-backed Leipzig, though he initially impressed in Germany.

From there things started to become more difficult and he struggled for regular opportunities, hence his desire to return to England, and he has plenty to prove in the Premier League to show that he’s capable of going toe-to-toe with the biggest sides.
