West Brom defender concerned for Euro 2016 chances

James ChesterThere’s a cause for concern amongst the Welsh fans in the Transfer Tavern today after hearing that a lack of Premier League action could cause one of their international stars to under-perform.

Reports from Wales Online have revealed that West Brom defender James Chester is concerned that his lack of time on the pitch in the top-flight of English football could cost him to lose his chance to represent his country.

Chester made an £8m move to West Brom from Hull City following their relegation to the Championship due to playing a key role in Wales’ historic qualifying round earning interest from several different clubs.

Chester has explained how he is “fearing for his Euro 2016” dreams due to his lack of first-team experience. He said:

“I have to start playing at West Brom because it’s impossible to play at this level and not be playing for your club week-in, week-out.”

“It’s nearly impossible to not play every week and then come to this level expecting to be 100%, which is what you need to be to stop players of the class of Robben and Wesley Sneijder. And that’s the level we will face in France.”

“I need to be playing at my club to give me the best chance of going to France and playing when we get there. I don’t think it’s good enough to be playing for Wales when I’m not playing for West Brom.”

James Chester’s dream of playing for his country in Euro 2016 might be at risk because of his recent West Brom nightmare.
