West Brom inching closer to securing deal for impressive striker, agent invited to match

PulisThe West Bromwich Albion fans are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening, discussing reports that they have made a move for a new striker.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Midlands club have invited Gent striker Laurent Depoitre’s agent to a match at the Hawthorns, as they consider replacements for the expected departure of Saido Berahino.

The Belgian international will bring a wealth of experience with him having played Champions League football in the past.

Depoitre is a target for numerous Premier League clubs and will most probably make the cut price move to England, due to him only have one year left on his current deal with the Belgian side.

The 27-year-old helped fire Gent to the Belgian League title last season, and has carried on his fine form this season netting 13 goals in 25 appearances for the club.

Our landlord here in The Tavern thinks that should West Brom manage to convince the Belgian to sign for them, that he will be a great asset for the club and fill the void if as expected, Saido Berahino leaves the club this summer.

As for the West Brom fans in The Tavern they are delighted to be linked with Depoitre and would love to see him ply his trade at The Hawthorns next season!
