West Brom plot loan move for talented forward

Kerim FreiWest Brom fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling a bit better about their upcoming transfer business once the window opens in January after reading reports suggesting they have an alternative player lined up if they fail to secure their ideal transfer target.

According to an article in the Mirror, West Brom will be keen to offer Kerim Frei a Premier League return if they miss out on signing QPR’s Matt Phillips.

West Brom boss, Tony Pulis, is willing to revive a £7 million deal to sign Phillips next month after their initial deal collapsed back in September, where Saido Berahino’s proposed move to Tottenham also fell through.

Pulis feels that the arrival of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Loftus Road will be enough to keep Phillips’ at the Championship side until the end of the season.

With that in mind, Pulis is desperate to inject some pace into his side and Frei’s name will be one mentioned for a potential loan deal.

Frei currently plays for Turkish club, Besiktas, but has been frozen out of the first-team squad and a number of sides in the Premier League, including Newcastle United and Norwich, are also interested in the 22-year-old.
