The West Brom faithful in the Transfer Tavern have been given a massive boost after reading reports suggesting that one of their most influential players is unlikely to part ways with the club.
According to The Shields Gazette, despite the amount of interest shown by Premier League clubs, West Brom player Saido Berahino is unlikely to leave the club before the transfer deadline later on this evening.
Fellow Premier League side Newcastle United, were one of the main clubs targetting Berahino but the addition of Seydou Doumbia on loan may well mean that Berahino is off of Steve McClaren’s list.
In addition, Baggies assistant manager Dave Kemp admitted that Berahino was unlikely to leave before the deadline. He said today:
“He’s still here, he’s been in this morning. He’s got a bit of a knock but he’s in the squad for tomorrow’s game (against Swansea). I’m expecting him to be here.”
There’s nothing to suggest that rumours and speculation today may well lead to a deal developing in the summer but for now, Baggies fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
