West Brom should make a January swoop and give this Championship defender his Premier League chance

West Brom will be embroiled in the relegation scrap this season as new manager Alan Pardew looks to guide the club away from the dreaded drop and maintain their Premier League status.

The Baggies will be hoping to get 2018 off under way in a far better way to the form they finished 2017 with, and the January transfer window could be crucial, with Pardew making no secret of his desire to bring in plenty of new faces if possible during the window.

Here in the Tavern, our landlord has been having some pretty in depth chats with the Baggies fans about potential transfers, and one surprise name he has thrown into the mix is current Sheffield United wingback George Baldock, who has been in superb form for the Blades.

Not the most obvious name of the most glamorous signing that could be made in the window, but Baldock offers so much from fullback, and has been an instrumental part of United’s surge towards the upper echelons of the Championship.

Baldock is full of energy down the right hand side and is blessed with searing pace, something which is a trait many Premier League sides value nowadays when your full backs are expected to get forward as much as they defend.

West Brom need speed in their side, and adding balance and pace down the flank in the shape of Baldock could be a superb piece of business by the club.

Baggies fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
