West Brom’s longest serving player is set to pen a new deal at the Hawthorns

MorrisonWest Brom fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were in a positive mood this afternoon as it has come to their attention that one of their key players is close agreeing a new deal.

According to the Express and Star, talks are now at an advanced stage between James Morrison and the Baggies as they are on the verge of agreeing a new deal.

Morrison is now the longest serving player after the 30-year-old arrived in 2007 from Middlesbrough for £1.5 million.

It is believed the 30-year-old’s contract extension will be announced at some point next week, with Morrison picking up a big pay rise.

Punters in the Tavern are surprised it took the Baggies this long to act as his contract was set to expire this month and players of his calibre and experience do not come around cheaply.

West Brom fans. How highly do you rate James Morrison? Let us know your thoughts below.
