The West Bromwich Albion fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports linking the club with a move for a new defender.
The Express & Star is reporting that the Premier League side are interested in bringing Ciaran Clark to the club from recently relegated Aston Villa this summer.
It’s not the first time that Tony Pulis has been interested in the 26-year- old, making a move for the defender last summer but seeing his bid turned down.
But it appears that the experienced manager thinks he has a better chance of securing the defenders services this summer, and is ready to activate the £5 million release clause in Clark’s contract now that Aston Villa have been relegated.
Clark has made over 150 appearances at Villa Park in the last six years and is going to be one of a few Villa players who is going to be in demand this summer.
The West Brom fans in The Tavern are not overly convinced that Clark should be signed by the club as they feel there are better defenders available this summer.
Our landlord has to agree with the Baggies fans, and thin Pulis should undoubtedly look elsewhere!
