The West Bromwich Albion fans in the Transfer Tavern will be keeping tabs on the news their club is interested in out of favour Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons.
According to The Chronicle, the Baggies have a keen eye on the Newcastle winger. Rolando Aarons is unlikely to have a future at St James Park under Spaniard Rafa Benitez, so is considering his options, although it is thought that Newcastle are not actively looking to sell him.
With James McClean looking like he may well be on his way to the Bet365 Stadium to play for Gary Rowett’s Stoke City, the Baggies may be lining up Aarons as a direct replacement for the Irishman. Whilst the majority of West Brom’s players had woeful seasons last time out, James McClean’s performances did earn him some credit.
Rolando Aarons has never seemed to deliver on his potential since joining Newcastle’s first team set up. A tricky and pacy winger, he has lacked end product and frustrated the Newcastle faithful.
As a direct replacement for James McClean, Aarons would be something of a risk. Although he has the potential to improve, still aged just 22, Aarons is not of the standard of a player like James McClean. However, with regular game time in a lower division, Aarons might find his form in the Black Country.
