Football fans have showed their respect to West Brom player Chris Brunt, as the Northern Irishman retires from international football.
The 33-year-old featured 65 times for his country, scoring three times, but unfortunately missed out on representing his country at Euro 2016 after sustaining a knee injury.
The midfielder featured 27 times for The Baggies in the Premier League last season, but could not prevent his side being relegated.
Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland host Israel at Windsor Park in September, in what will be their first game since Brunt announced his retirement. They then travel south to face The Republic of Ireland in November in a hotly anticipated match.
Brunt will now turn his attention solely to West Brom, in the aim of securing promotion back to the Premier League. His side currently sit in fourth place in the Championship table after four games, and travel to second place Middlesbrough on Friday.
This is what the fans had to say:
Good player en half Brunt is, that left foot has been a beauty and what a bargain he was for you lot back in the day with his service
