After rumours circulated yesterday that West Brom were interested in former Norwich midfielder Wes Hoolahan, The Express and Star reported today that The Baggies taken the 36-year-old on trial.
The Republic of Ireland international did not have his contract renewed when it expired at the end of last season at Carrow Road, and he has since been looking for a club all summer. The Dubliner spent ten seasons at Norwich, racking up over 35o appearances in green and yellow.
West Brom have a fairly settled squad, with a lot of players in Hoolahan’s position for Darren Moore to turn to. But we asked West Brom fans if they thought Hoolahan was a good signing for The Baggies, and this is what they voted:
The results are too close to call really, and while 52% say that he will never play, those numbers are too tight for the signing to be deemed a disaster.
There is still a fair number of fans that view Hoolahan as a decent squad player that will be able to contribute from the bench when needed.
This is a positive sign for the club, as it means there will still be a lot of support for the Irishman if he joins.
