West Brom reportedly look to Midlands rivals in search for new manager after Pardew exit

West Bromwich Albion fans in the Transfer Tavern will be preparing for life without Alan Pardew with most already accepting that the club will be in the Championship next season after a poor season.

The Baggies currently sit rock-bottom of the Premier League and were forced into making a decision to let Pardew go, four months after bringing him to the Hawthorns to save their season.

West Brom locals saw their side go on to win just one match in 18 league games, and as Darren Moore takes over temporarily, fans will be interested in who their club lines up as a successor.

According to reports in the Mirror, the Baggies have identified Michael Appleton to take over the reigns in the summer. The Leicester City number two had an impressive spell at the King Power Stadium when he was named as caretaker, and the Hawthorns outfit has placed him high on their list of targets.

With Alan Pardew now having gone of course, the Baggies here in our bar would be up for just about anyone to step in and try to steady the ship somewhat.

Landlord’s Verdict

West Brom fans in the Tavern will be encouraged by the news that Appleton has been shortlisted as he has experience of the lower leagues. Having managed Oxford United in League One, he has started to make a name for himself and showed he was adequately equipped for the managerial role at a higher level when he took charge of the Foxes temporarily.

A figure for the fans to get behind, the punters propping up our bar are warming to the idea.
