According to The Birmingham Mail, West Brom manager Darren Moore has said that new signing Bakary Sako is in contention to feature tonight against Sheffield Wednesday.
The former Crystal Palace midfielder signed yesterday for The Baggies until the end of the season, with the club travelling to Hillsborough tonight hoping to continue their excellent run, however, Moore should think twice about changing his squad around.
The Baggies currently have a winning formula, as they sit at the top of the Championship table. The club have only lost one in their last 11 matches, and that was away to title rivals Middlesbrough. Moore has worked out a formation and team that works, and should be very tentative to change things round.
That does not mean that Sako cannot have a prominent part to play from the bench, however, he should certainly not start yet for the club.
The only exception is replacing Tyrone Mears with Matty Phillips. The Scotland international may be fit to play tonight after recovering from an injury that prevented him from playing at the weekend. Should he be fit, he is entitled to walk back into the team as he has been brilliant so far this season, and was only out because of injury. Sako should not be given the same treatment just yet.
West Brom know that a win tonight will keep them firmly placed at the top of the Championship table, and there is no reason for fans to expect anything else given the club’s current form. Moore should not upset that.
