TalkSport have reported that, following the expiry of his contract with Monaco, Lacina Traore hopes to return to English football.
Whilst Traore states in the above report that he is open to a Premier League move, his form in recent seasons suggests that a switch to Championship level could be just what he needs to get himself firing again.
Traore’s previous experience in England was a loan move with Everton during the 2013/14 season. After a debut FA Cup goal at Goodison Park, a torn hamstring ruled him out until the final game of the campaign.
The 6’8” striker will be hoping for a more fruitful experience in England this time around, and West Brom could be the ideal place for him to once again strut his stuff on British shores.
The chance to add a top level striker, who is only 28-years-old, to the ranks at the Hawthorns is not something Darren Moore can allow to pass him by.
The Baggies have already lost several key members of their squad this summer following their relegation from the Premier League, and yet more look set to exit the club before the Championship season kicks off.
With West Brom so light on numbers, Moore will be desperate for reinforcements. At the same time, Traore will be equally desperate to prove that he has what it takes to make it at the top level in England. Firing the Midlands club back into the top tier would be a great start.
The Ivory Coast international has all of the attributes needed to make it in the Championship, and his extraordinary physical presence could become a vital weapon in the Baggies’ arsenal.
On a free transfer, Traore would be worth the punt from West Brom’s point of view. For the big man himself, this could be his best chance to finally prove his quality in England.
