West Brom take experienced trio on training camp

West Bromwich Albion have had a difficult summer and will be keen to keep as many of their squad as possible as they look to regain promotion back to the Premier League.

The Baggies, who were relegated following an abysmal season, have been battling hard to keep a number of their stars, however, they have already lost a handful already to top-flight sides.

Darren Moore has been busy trying to bring in reinforcements to The Hawthorns this summer, with Sam Johnstone already confirmed, whilst Kyle Bartley is expected to complete a switch soon.

The club have gone to Scotland for their preparations for the upcoming Championship campaign, and according to the Express and Star, they have taken three experienced free agents with them.

The report claims that Kieran Richardson, Martin Cranie and Nigel Reo-Coker have all joined up with the Baggies to help boost the numbers of experienced heads at the training camp, however, Moore could be tempted to sign them permanently.

“They are three experienced boys that have been in the game,” he told the Express and Star.

“The idea is they’re free agents, their advisors have contacted us, we’ve invited them in to get a free look at them really.”

The Verdict:

Despite their advancing years, the trio could help to do a job for the Baggies with the knowledge they have.

They would not command a fee and their wage demands would not be as high as some of the other targets that West Brom have in mind and could give Moore’s side the edge they need to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
