West Brom at the moment are struggling to reach the finish line, having all-but secured their place within the play-offs. Obviously, much of the last six weeks ago has been centred around the managerial saga, but its time to look ahead to next season in terms of the playing staff.
After a disappointing run of form, fans are eventually hoping that all will be forgotten and that the play-offs can be a success for them, as they bid for an immediate top-flight return.
Remaining without a manager and having a distinct lack of confidence throughout the team could prove damaging to West Brom’s chances but they still have a number of experienced bodies on board. Silver linings and all that.
Whatever happens over the summer, there will surely certainly be some changes at West Brom, of which a new striker may be one of them.
Indeed, with a massively disappointing season, Matej Vydra maybe hopeful of a way out, something West Brom can offer him. Vydra, (who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt) is usually a reliable goalscorer but his spell at Burnley has been far from what he and probably the club imagined it would be like.
With just six starts all season, the forward has seriously failed to make himself a useful option for Sean Dyche’s side and looks like a fish out of water up at Turf Moor.
The 26-year-old remains a talented player, especially in the Championship, and could be a huge asset for the Baggies if they fail to keep Dwight Gayle beyond this season. With Salomon Rondon’s future also uncertain, a move for the man who spent a campaign on loan at the Hawthorns in 2012/13 would be a good option.
Having held an interest (via the Yorkshire Evening Post) in the Czech Republic international last summer and January else well, it will be no surprise to see West Brom move to sign Matej Vydra whatever league they maybe in next season.
