West Brom’s best possible XI under Darren Moore

West Brom’s best possible XI under Darren Moore

West Bromwich Albion are heading in the right direction after a rather sloppy start to life in the Championship, with promotion still in their sights.

The Baggies were one of the favourites to earn promotion back to the Premier League as Darren Moore has star-studded squad at his disposal. But, things just haven’t gone to plan so far this season and the 44-year-old still hasn’t been able to identify his strongest XI.

It’s important that the Englishman can find a settled side, but he may need a lot of luck to do so as injuries can impact his match selection.

So, in an ideal world where West Bromwich Albion have a fully fit squad with no injuries or suspensions to speak of, here’s an idea of what Moore’s strongest XI would look like…

We’ve gone with a 3-4-1-2 formation, as that is the formation that would bring the best out of the Baggies’ attacking players and would help the wide men get forward into dangerous position, while the two central midfielders work tirelessly to protect the back three.

Craig Dawson is currently struggling with an injury but he will play a huge part this season once he returns, with plenty of experience under his belt. Ahmed Hegazi showed moments of promise in the Premier League last season and can be a defensive rock on his day, while Kyle Bartley always manages to ensure consistency at the back.

In midfield, the likes of Jake Livermore and Chris Brunt have plenty of top-level experience under their belt and will be key to keeping possession and getting the side up the field. Meanwhile, both Nacer Chadli and Matt Phillips should be playing their football in the Premier League, but the Baggies won’t mind having their pace and power as they push for promotion straight back to the top-flight.

Lastly, Harvey Barnes has been one of the shining lights for West Bromwich Albion so far this season and will no doubt score plenty more goals as the campaign progresses. Indeed, summer signing Dwight Gayle and the highly-rated Jay Rodriguez will lead the line for the Baggies, with plenty of goals and top-flight experience between them.
