West Bromwich Albion seem to be coming to terms with Championship football after a rather shaky start to proceedings.
Indeed, Darren Moore has a star-studded squad at his disposal so there’s no reason as to why he can’t achieve promotion straight back to the Premier League. And, it appears as if the Midlands club are eyeing a potential swoop, as according to The Sun on Sunday (09/09, page 63) (via HITC), West Brom are interested in signing Bakary Sako.
Interestingly, West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in offering free agent Bakary Sako a contract.
However, they aren’t the only team interested in securing the services of the winger, as the likes of Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are also keeping an eye.
The Mali international turned down a contract offer from former club Crystal Palace ahead of the summer which allowed the 30-year-old to secure his Selhurst Park exit.
Bakary Sako has previous experience in the Championship from his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers, so it’s safe to say he would be able to do the job for Darren Moore.
The Malian should arguably still be playing in the Premier League after an impressive campaign at Selhurst Park last season, but he’ll now have to settle for Championship football at one of the four clubs.
West Bromwich Albion already have the likes of Harvey Barnes and Matt Phillips at their disposal, but they could bring the winger in as a replacement for Nacer Chadli.
