West Bromwich Albion have turned things around since their opening day defeat at the Hawthorns as they continue to work towards promotion back to the Premier League.
The Baggies will now feel like they’ve adjusted to life in the Championship after a rather frantic start against Bolton Wanderers on the opening day of the season. But, judging from their performances since then, there are still a number of areas that need to be improved within the side.
Indeed, the loan window remains open until the end of the month, so Darren Moore will need to weigh up his options if he is serious about securing promotion. The Baggies could do with bringing in another exciting winger and a full-back to offer something different and sure things up at the back.
One name that West Bromwich Albion should be looking at is Peterborough’s Marcus Maddison, who could be set for a move away before the deadline for loan signings.
The 24-year-old has the ability to create something out of absolutely nothing and can always guarantee great delivery into dangerous areas. Supporters would drool over an attacking line that consists of Harvey Barnes, Marcus Maddison and Matt Phillips – an attacking trio that could easily fire them back into the Premier League.
Also, the Midlands club could do with bringing in a player from the Premier League that can provide experience and quality in abundance. Indeed, Crystal Palace’s Joel Ward would definitely bolster their defensive line.
Indeed, West Bromwich Albion have leaked goals this season and are struggling for quality and depth at the heart of the defence at this moment in time. Joel Ward is down the pecking order at Selhurst Park and is no longer a part of Roy Hodgson’s plans, so a loan move away seems possible. The Baggies wouldn’t have to worry about leaking goals if they secure the services of the 28-year-old, as his top level experience and defensive qualities will shine through.
