If West Ham United were to have a little bit more about them and consistency to their performances, things could have been a little rosier for Manuel Pellegrini’s side this season.
Injuries have been costly for the Hammers over the course of the campaign, which has led to some areas of the field being rather weak, with midfield options being a key area that has suffered at times.
However, it appears the Irons have been linked with a player once again who could be the answer to their needs.
What’s the News?
iDNES appear to have claimed that West Ham could look to return for Patrik Hrosovsky in the summer and state that he deserves to ‘jump into top competition’.
The midfielder’s agent, Pavel Zika, claimed back in February that the Hammers made an offer for him back in the January transfer window.
“Specifically, in West Ham, Patrik is being closely monitored and will continue to do so in the spring and hopefully the right offer and the opportunity to move to West Ham will come in the summer,” he told Ruik.
“West Ham is interested and, even at the end of January, a serious cash offer was made, but both Plzen and Patrik and I decided that it is not good to change in the middle of the season, where the competition is open. The same was confirmed by West Ham, that coach Pellegrini does not like to hit the market in the middle of the season and that it is customary to rebuild the team at the end of the season before the new season. So West Ham is still a topic we want to return to in the summer.”
The links surrounding Hrosovsky and a potential move to West Ham do not appear to be dying down at the moment and could well be the type of player that the Hammers could benefit from having in their side moving forward.
The 27-year-old is hugely experienced and has been capped a number of times for the Slovakia national team and some rather exciting skill traits that he can bring to the London Stadium.
The Viktoria Plzen midfielder is rather versatile as he can play in a central role in the middle of the field, or drop a little further back and provide the defence with some additional cover when the team are coming under fire.
Hrosovsky has a brilliant range of passing and that can be extremely useful for the Hammers to take advantage as they would benefit from having another dimension in the middle of the field that can help create additional opportunities for their attackers.
With the injuries that the Irons have had over the current campaign, it might just make sense for Pellegrini to try and land the Slovakian this summer.
