West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be encouraged by their side’s recent performances during the final stretch of the season and will be feeling more confident about their chances of staying up.
The Hammers came from behind against Stoke City in their last outing to secure a point, although they had three goals ruled out, and according to reports, David Moyes may have got a better look at a possible transfer target.
Reports by Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato are claiming that the London Stadium outfit are interested in signing Xherdan Shaqiri and could line him up with Marko Arnautovic once again. The Switzerland international is thought to be frustrated with the Potters and is prepared to quit the club should they be relegated at the end of the season.
The Bet365 Stadium may have to cut their losses on the winger, as he has a deal that runs until 2020 and may find it difficult to keep the former Bayern Munich in Staffordshire, with West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace all rumoured to be interested.
It’s a move that would reunite Shaqiri with his former Potters teammate, Marko Aranoutovic, in east London and bring yet another Champions League winner to the club, having picked up a winners’ medal with Bayern back in 2013.
The West Ham locals in the Tavern will be hoping the club can make a move for Shaqiri should Stoke end up in the Championship, however, a number of punters will know their club has not received a huge amount of backing in the transfer window previously and will doubt their chances to make him theirs.
