West Ham and Everton fans unite on Twitter to make exactly the same joke

Both the West Ham and Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are in the same position right now, as David Moyes and Sam Allardyce have both been sacked today. The pair took over at the clubs this season and both did what they were hired to do, steer The Hammers and The Toffees away from relegation, so to see that they’ve been sacked could be viewed as harsh by some other fan bases.

Whilst both Moyes and Allardyce have a case for feeling hard done by. The West Ham and Everton fans will be celebrating today, as both fan bases wanted to see their gaffers depart in pursuit of a flashier style of football than the gaffers provide. Allardyce, who used to managed West Ham, came in for heavy criticism before he’d taken charge of a single game for his boring football before he proved the fans to be correct, right up until his inevitable departure.

Meanwhile, in London, The Irons were in serious danger of relegation when ex-Everton man Moyes took over. The Scottish gaffer did what he was asked though, pulling the Hammers out of danger and getting Marko Arnautovic firing on all cylinders in the process. The West Ham board were always going to be revaluating Moyes’s contract at the end of the season, although now it’s up in the air over the future of the club with no-one jumping up to be the frontrunner as the club’s next manager.
