West Ham and Leicester set to go head to head in battle for former PL winner

The West Ham United and Leicester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have both expressed their disappointment at their respective starts to the season, which have seen the duo in and around the relegation zone since the 2017/18 campaign got kickstarted.

As a result of this, Leicester City sacked manager Craig Shakespeare and West Ham could follow suit.

It appears that Slaven Bilic is clinging on after a 3-0 loss at home to Brighton and Hove Albion left his future in major doubt.

According to The Telegraph, both clubs will scrap it out to land Manuel Pellegrini, who is considered to be one of the best options who might be possibly available at this stage.

Leicester and West Ham have sounded out David Wagner but the German has stated his preference to remain with Huddersfield Town for now.

Instead, the Premier League duo have turned their attention to Pellegrini, who can boast a Premier League title in his trophy cabinet from his time at Manchester City.

The 64-year-old, currently at Hebei China Fortune, has also managed Real Madrid.

Leicester are also looking at former Southampton manager Claude Puel and Burnley boss Sean Dyche as they weigh up their options.

Meanwhile, West Ham are interested in Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez but might struggle to prise him away after their good start to the season and a possible investment incoming.
