West Ham United and Stoke City fans are competing in a darts competition in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports of them both being interested in a non league prospect.
Kent Online is reporting that the duo have shown an interest in signing Ebbsfleet United youngster Shilow Tracey.
The 17 year old had a trial with Tottenham Hotspur last month, and both clubs have joined the race to sign the young midfielders signature.
Ebbsfleet’s vice chairman has conceded that the player will be leaving the club, but that he will ensure that the club get the best possible deal for the player. Speaking about Tracey to Kent Online, Peter Varney said:
“The main thing is to protect the boy. We want to avoid him playing games (on trial) every 24 hours because that’s not going to do him any favours. He mustn’t just be used on trial and then dumped because that could have a negative effect on the player.”
“Do you stop the boy having the chance of a lifetime, with all the money you can earn in the Premier League? We’re trying to produce players for Ebbsfleet but if you produce a top-class player like Shilow, you can’t hold the lad back.”
“You can’t beat the Premier League. However much you might want to say ‘we’ll take on Spurs,’ you have to be pragmatic and make sure Ebbsfleet gets the best deal possible.”
The debate between the two sets of fans in The Transfer Tavern looks destined to go on for a while yet, as both sets of fans are discussing where the player would be better off going to improve his game.
