West Ham and Watford fans in the Transfer Tavern have been in a hot debate with each other today after hearing reports that both clubs are keen on signing Roma star, Seydou Doumbia.
Reports from The Sun have revealed that both of the Premier League sides have been keeping a close eye on the 27-year old Ivorian striker as the January transfer window is fast approaching.
Doumbia, currently playing for Roma in Seria A, joined the Italian side at the start of this year on a four and a half year deal but returned to CSKA Moscow on loan after an unsuccessful spell with his new club.
He originally played CSKA Moscow between 2010 to 2015, making 96 appearances for the club and scoring 61 goals, a brilliant goals to game record for a frontman.
Although he failed to produce the same form for Roma, his 5 goals in 11 appearances away on loan has made the Serie A side keen to cash in on his return to form by upping his price tag to a reported £8m.
The Ivorian has already shown he can do damage to Premier League sides, scoring against Manchester United in their Champions League 1-1 draw.
Both West Ham and Watford are understandably willing to pay the price tag for Doumbia, deeming him to be worthy of a gamble despite never playing in the top-flight of English football before.
