The West Ham United fans in The Transfer Tavern are gathered around the jukebox selecting some tunes and discussing the club’s latest addition to their squad.
The Guardian is reporting that West Ham have won the chase to sign Leeds United’s Sam Byram after the player rejected a move to Premier League rivals Everton.
Both clubs had agreed a £3.7 million fee for the highly rated player who can play at right back or right wing, and it was highly expected that the player would join Everton but following talks with the Merseyside club he has decided a move to East London is the right one to make.
With West Ham currently playing central defender James Tomkins in the right back slot it appears that the promise of immediate first team football is the one which swayed the youngster to make the move south.
The move South was confirmed by Leeds owner Massimo Cellino last night when he said:
“I’m really sorry for Everton because they really acted like gentlemen, but Sam chose West Ham.”
The West Ham fans in The Transfer Tavern are delighted with the acquisition of Byram and look forward to him showcasing his talent at the Boleyn Ground.
