West Ham United will need to make some additions to their side in the summer if they are to continue their upward trajectory. Manuel Pellegrini’s side have been good this season, however, there have been a number of inconsistencies within the side that have cost them dearly at times.
However, signing one man that could potentially be an ideal acquisition for the Hammers could prove to be a little difficult because of a previous relationship between two clubs.
What’s the News?
According to Football Insider, West Ham believe Daniel Levy could make it difficult for them to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Victor Wanyama this summer.
Pellegrini and Mario Husillos, the Hammers’ director of football, are said to be admirers of the Kenya international and believe he could add plenty of quality to their squad next season.
However, the two clubs have had a frosty relationship in regards to transfers between the two sides in the past and there are concerns that may continue this summer.
There is no doubt that Wanyama would be an excellent signing for West Ham if he were to remain fit, however, it appears they could have an even bigger problem in making a deal happen if the report is anything to go by.
To make matters worse, the Kenya international is expected to be made available for transfer this summer as well as he is understood to be deemed surplus to requirements in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The resurgent Moussa Sissoko and the quality that both Eric Dier and Harry Winks possess have made it difficult for the 27-year-old to get his chances in the first-team.
When he is fully fit, he has plenty of energy and can dominate the space in the middle of the park as he can run in between the two boxes with plenty of intensity and be a force to be reckoned with at times, something the Hammers could certainly benefit from.
However, if Levy continues to play devil’s advocate and keep his frosty stance with their London neighbours, then Pellegrini may not be able to bring the player he has admiration for to the club this summer.
West Ham fans, do you think Levy will cost you a potentially great piece of business? Would Wanyama be an excellent addition at the club? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
