Last weekend, West Ham finally came alive this Premier League season after beating Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park to claim their first points of the new campaign.

Prior, the Hammers had lost all four of their games against Liverpool, Bournemouth, Arsenal and Wolves resulting in the club finding themselves at the bottom of the table with no points.

Nevertheless, despite having endured such a poor start, West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady is still expecting big things from the club this term.

The Breakdown

In her column for the Sun, Brady wrote: "At West Ham we think the current players are excellent and with good management can succeed. Let’s hope so. But other teams in the past have thought that and not delivered. That’s why the Premier League is the toughest competition."

For West Ham there are no longer any more excuses and while Brady, David Sullivan and David Gold have deservedly come under criticism over the past few years, they have done their jobs this season.

With the summer arrivals of Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko, the quality of the squad has gone up significantly, and is not one that should be getting caught up in relegation battles.

The appointment of Manuel Pellegrini as manager is also a move on the West Ham board's part that should set the club up for a good campaign, even after such a slow start.
