It was a fantastic evening for West Ham United at the Olympic Stadium last night as they stopped Tottenham’s title charge by beating them 1-0.
It was utter delirium here in the Tavern, with the Hammers fans delighted that the club could get a result against their London rivals.
It was a match that halted Spurs’ chances of winning the Premier League and boss Slaven Bilic has revealed that there was an extra incentive if his Hammers side helped Chelsea out at the top of the division.
According to the Daily Star, Bilic had messaged good friend and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic before the game, with the Serbian promising a slap-up meal if West Ham beat Pochettino’s side.
And of course, with that now coming off, Bilic owes Matic some grub, something he’ll wilfully sort out!
“Matic is a wonderful guy, a great player- I will accept that [offer] with pleasure,” Bilic said.
Humorous stuff from the pair but on the pitch the result made all the difference and Chelsea have a huge chance to extend their lead at the top-of-the-table this weekend.
