West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are breathing a sigh of relief today after comments from their manager suggested a vital asset will not be leaving.
TalkSport quote Hammers boss Slaven Bilic as remaining confident that defensive prodigy Aaron Cresswell would not be leaving the club this summer, amidst speculation of interest from Liverpool.
“He is having a great season. First of all he is a great professional, it’s a privilege to have a player who is always available. Last year he was our player of the year. He played every game last year, this year I think he’s missed one.”
“He’s improved a lot. With the ball, and on the ball with crosses and his technique, he’s almost a playmaker on the left side of the pitch. But defensively he has improved so he became a great full-back and a complete footballer. He gets the interest of so many big clubs.”
“I spoke to him. First he is under contract. Second, more important than the length of the contract, is that he is really happy here, he loves it here and he can’t wait for the new season and all that hype. Those clubs can try to talk to him but I spoke to him a couple of times, he is very happy and he is going to stay with us for a long time.”
A former youth player at Liverpool, Cresswell has been linked with a return to Anfield but our landlord believes the 26-year-old would be daft to leave West Ham ahead of their new venture at the Olympic Stadium.
