West Ham confident of Declan Rice deal

Things have started to click for Manuel Pellegrini and West Ham United after a poor start, although the situation could be about to get an awful lot better for the Hammers.

According to a report by Sky Sports, the London Stadium outfit are thought to be increasing in confidence that Declan Rice will commit his future to the club.

West Ham have been in talks with the 19-year-old about extending his current deal with the club since April, however, they are yet to reach an agreement.

His current deal expires in the summer of 2020, however, the Hammers do have the option of adding a further year via the virtue of a clause.

Rice has featured for Pellegrini this season, in a defensive midfield role, after having picked up two consecutive awards for being the club’s best young player of the year.

The teenager is thought to have a bright career ahead of him and continued to show why with an impressive performance against Chelsea at the weekend, in which he helped them pick up a point in a goalless draw.

The Verdict:

West Ham will be delighted if they can get Rice to commit his future to the club.

The £9million-rated teenager, as per Transfermarkt, has been a key man for the Hammers over the past couple of seasons and is certainly regarded as one of their brightest prospects for a number of years.

It remains to be seen on how long it will take for a deal to be completed, however, with the increased confidence from the Irons, it may not be too long before an announcement is made regarding his future.
