West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to the future of the club as Manuel Pellegrini was installed as the new chief to lead the Hammers.
The Chilean arrived on Tuesday to take over the London Stadium outfit following the departure of David Moyes, and he has already been busy making a handful of changes.
According to a report in The Sun, the new boss has decided to let James Collins and Patrice Evra leave the club as he looks to rebuild the squad and guide them to European football.
The defenders, who are 35 and 37 respectively, will not be offered new deals to remain and will leave at the end of June when their contracts expire.
The West Ham fans will be upset to see Collins go after a total of almost 10 years with the club, but they are hardly surprised by the decision considering his age.
Affectionately known as ‘the Ginge’, he made over 200 appearances for West Ham during two spells and became a favourite with the local Hammers faithful in the process.
The arrival of Evra in February was considered a strange one at the time by many of the punters in the bar and, after making just five appearances for the club, his departure has hardly arrived as any sort of surprise.
