West Ham consider alternatives as striker pursuit hits an impasse

The West Ham fans are beginning to get concerned about their side’s lack of transfer progress…

A number of targets have been reported over the last few weeks, including the likes of Patrice Evra and Moussa Dembele, leaving many in the Tavern feeling optimistic that some big deals could be done this month.

However, as of yet, Slaven Bilic’s efforts appear to be in vain – with no major signings announced yet by the London giants.

Now, today, it would appear as though the Hammers are no closer to sealing their first major deal of the summer – with the Telegraph reporting that West Ham have given up on priority target Jermain Defoe – after Sunderland refused to sell.

The Telegraph also note that West Ham are looking at alternatives, with Scott Hogan being one name on their list.

The news has come as a disappointment for the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom were excited at the thought of Jermain Defoe joining the club. The English veteran has already bagged 11 goals this season – and a record that good is good enough for a side challenging at the top.

Our landlord thinks that a new striker should be a priority for Bilic, with Carroll and Ayew proving inconsistent this season.
