West Ham United will be feeling confident about their upcoming Premier League campaign with the signings that Manuel Pellegrini has made.
The Chilean has made his intentions known with the additions of Felipe Anderson and Jack Wilshere, amongst a host of others, as he looks to take the Hammers into European football.
However, it appears that his interest in strengthening his squad is still there as he looks to bring an experienced defender to the London Stadium this summer.
According to a report by Sky Sports, West Ham are thought to be considering a move for Mexico international Diego Reyes. The defender is a free agent following his decision to leave Porto and is thought to have a number of potential suitors.
The Hammers will need to compete with Newcastle and Fenerbahce, who are thought to have already offered the World Cup defender a contract, as Pellegrini looks to bolster his defence ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Pellegrini has already added Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop to his defensive line, however, it is believed that he is in the market for one more following Winston Reid’s lengthy injury.
The Mexico international would be a solid acquisition for the Hammers this summer because of the experience he has gained from playing in the top-flights of Portugal and Spain.
The fact that he would also be available on a free transfer would also appeal to the Irons this summer, as they have spent big already and should Reyes make the impact desired, he could be an excellent addition.
